“Being broke as a man is frustrating” – Deyemi Okanlowon on why he promotes his movies aggressively
Famed Nollywood actor, Deyemi Okanlawon, responds assertively to a critic questioning his vigorous promotion of his movies, likening it to the actions of a newcomer.
Taking to his Instagram account, the actor recounted an exchange with a critic who irked him with a query about his promotional tactics.
In his narrative, he described how the critic labeled his behavior as amateurish despite his extensive accomplishments in the Nollywood arena.
Sharing the incident, Deyemi Okanlawon expressed in his post that his marketing approach stems from a place of ‘hunger’.
Incensed by the inquiry, he confirmed that he blocked the critic for reminding him of the burdens he carries as a man.
In his words, “Someone said ‘Deyemi you be senior man na, why you dey promote your film like say you be rookie’… for a brief second all the many ppl who depend on me flashed through my mind, I smiled and blocked the id*ot!.”
He further added to the post, “Being broke as a man is very degrading and frustrating. To every man who’s putting in the work to change his financial status for the better, I hope you win soon bro, I hope things get better for you real soon.”
