We all go through phases in life where we get a little boring. In fact, I’m going through that right now! I don’t know where you live, but here it’s about minus five Fahrenheit, which means I have no desire to do anything but sleep.
Weather aside, though, boredom could be temporary or it could be a real problem.
Now, I now you love your guy and you’ve been pretty patient with his lack of interest so far, but there’s a point where he needs to get up and get motivated.
There are two reasons your guy isn’t very interesting at the moment, he could either be naturally boring or he could just be in a bad mood. Don’t worry though; both of these reasons have their solutions.
If he has a boring personality
A man who’s naturally boring isn’t going to easily change his ways. In fact, you’re going to have to work a little harder to get this guy out of the living room and into the world. Again, it isn’t impossible…it just requires a little more persuasion.
1. Try something he likes to do first
2. Introduce him to new people
Many relationships start being boring because we become comfortable with each other. Your man might naturally be boring because he only knows about three people and he’s quite content to stay in the house with just you.
If you want to pull him out of his shell, you really need to introduce him to new people. Get another couple together for a double date and pull your guy away from the video games for the night.
3. Go someplace new for dinner
I have three places I eat at: Little Caesar’s, Taco Bell, and Burger King. I love them, they are my favorites, and it takes a lot for me to stray away from those three comfort foods. However, I love food and I am quite willing to try something new.
Make reservations for you and your man at a nice restaurant. Tell him you already made them and you can’t/won’t cancel them. This will force him to go out with you on a specific day, rather than hearing him say, “sure, but let’s do it another night, okay?”
4. Do something neither of you have tried before
Sometimes, when you’re bored, you have to give in and try something neither of you have ever tried. My son and I went to a pen convention once. We are not pen collectors, we had no idea what to expect, and we were pretty sure it would be boring. We actually had a great time and learned a lot! Try something new for both of you!
5. Give him an ultimatum
Finally, you can try giving your man and ultimatum. Instead of trying to sweet talk him into taking you out and doing things with you, you might want to threaten him into motivation. I know, it sounds like a lot of work, doesn’t it? You might even have a small argument.
However, your man needs to know that he’s on the verge of losing you if he doesn’t take you out and have some fun once in a while!
If he’s being boring because of his bad mood
Bad mood boring is a little bit different for guys. You can’t really threaten them into having fun when they’re in a bad mood because men will just get angry and then ignore you anyway. This one takes a different sort of approach. Instead of focusing just on getting your man out of the house, you’re going to be focusing on getting him in a better mood altogether.
1. Get out of the house
The term “stir crazy” isn’t just something made up for horror films; people genuinely become irritated and lethargic when they’ve been cooped up in the house for too long. What’s even more frustrating is that we often don’t realize that we’ve been standing still and that it’s affecting our emotions.
The first method to working on bad mood boredom is to just get up and get out of the house. Take a walk around the block, go to a coffee shop and have a conversation. Go to a bookstore and walk around and talk about the books you’ve read or always wanted to read. Get him out of the house! A short trip out will help him realize he misses being out in the world.
2. Try something daring
I’m quite often terrified of new things. I hate to admit it, but I’m very afraid of just about everything. I’m scared of driving downtown in case my car breaks down, I’m afraid of getting lost, I get nervous in crowds, I panic in empty garages late at night…I’m a scaredy-cat. I like my calm, daily routine.
Still, I know that in order to live life to the fullest I have to actually get out there and do something new once in a while, and that always changes my mood. There’s something thrilling about taking a risk and facing your fears, it makes you feel alive and powerful! Facing your fears gets your blood pumping and your adrenaline running, which actually puts you in a better mood.
Surviving something you thought was impossible (which is what facing your fears is about) is guaranteed to make you happy. In other words, why not try sky-diving or taking a sail-boat ride? Why not try something you’ve always wanted to do, but never had the chance? Do something daring.
3. Try something neither of you want to do
Of course, if you can’t think of something you’ve always wanted to do, then doing something neither of you have ever wanted to do is just as effective. I’ve never wanted to go to a rodeo. I really never had the interest. I’m not a fan of the Old West, I don’t care for cowboys or country music, and I’m afraid of horses. All of which would make my family gasp in horror since I grew up in the country.
However, I did go to a rodeo once…and I’ll admit…I loved it. It was thrilling, it was sexy, and it was full of energy! If I’d never gone I never would have realized how much fun it would be. So there, get out and try something you don’t want to do with your guy. You might be surprised.
4. Show him your flirty, s*xy side
Be honest, how long has it been since you’ve had s*x? You know, many relationships become boring because of the lack of love-making. If you want your man to be in a good mood and ready to take you out and have some fun, then you might want to be little more giving in the bedroom.
Okay, that sounded very sexist, I know…but it’s true. Why do you think they called it “women’s wiles”? We have the power, through s*x, to change a man’s attitude, his mind, his entire way of thinking about something if we really want to.
Now, I’m not saying s*x should be used as a tool of manipulation, not by any means! I am saying that sex makes your partner feel loved and wanted and that will make him feel good about himself, and in turn he’ll want to make you feel good…so when you ask him to take you to a movie, he’ll be more likely to say yes.
5. Get tickets to a show
Finally, get your boring guy out of the house by not giving him a choice. Just decide it for him. Buy tickets to a show on a day you know he doesn’t have to work…and then go make him take you out. That being said, you might want to go to something he’ll enjoy as well! If you’re going to make him suffer through a musical, try something that might appeal more to his manliness.
There you have it ladies, these are the ways to take the boring out of your boy. So tell us, what method are you going to try tonight?
