Davido offers advice to American rapper, Kanye West after he called out Adidas
Nigerian music sensation, Davido, has provided business counsel to American rapper Kanye West in the aftermath of his rift and legal battle with the sportswear giant Adidas.
It’s widely known that the brand severed ties with the once-billionaire rapper due to a series of Antisemitic remarks made in 2022. Despite the separation from the superstar, Adidas has been offloading the remaining stock of Yeezy merchandise.
On Monday, Kanye took to his Instagram account to criticize the brand for retailing a Yeezy design that he never authorized and profiting from his devoted fanbase.
He expressed frustration that Adidas hadn’t compensated him for the sneakers they sold last year and is now suing him for $250 million, while simultaneously producing counterfeit Yeezys and distributing them to his unsuspecting fans and supporters.
“Anyone who truly supports Ye wouldn’t purchase these knock-off Yeezys. I didn’t endorse these colorways, and I’m not receiving any royalties from them. Adidas is taking legal action against me while promoting unauthorized 350s, which everyone knows have become outdated.”
He posted a video to Instagram explaining his feud with Adidas, saying
“Not only are they putting out fake colorways that are non-approved, they’re suing me for $250 million and they’re also not paying me for these shoes that they’re putting out that have my name on it”.
