How To Get Glossy Hair

You will need the following products:

  1. A straightener to straighten your curly or wavy hair
  2. Smoothing shampoo and conditioner
  3. Heat protecting spray
  4. Smoothing serum

Steps to Get Glossy Hair:

Curly hair is not favorable for a glossy look. It’s easier to make slightly wavy or straight hair glossy by using a few simple tricks. This is because straight hair has a flat surface which reflects light so that the glossy look appears prominently. Hence, straightening the hair may be considered for a glossier look.

Step 1:

If you want to have shiny hair, resist those hot water baths. It’s proven that warm water strips the oils off the hair, making it appear dull and dry. A good smoothing shampoo is enough to keep your hair dirt and oil-free. If you really need to take a hot shower, wear a shower cap or use a moisturizing hair mask afterwards to get back the lost oils and moisture. To keep your hair gloss, this one step you cannot miss.

Shampooing takes away moisture and essential oils from the hair, making it rough and frizzy. Using a good conditioner will help shampooed hair look nourished and shiny. Use a good conditioner and leave it on for a couple of minutes to keep your hair hydrated.

Step 3:

Curly hair feels rougher and duller, so it’s more helpful if it’s straightened out. It’s good to use a cooler setting for slightly wavy hair and a higher setting for naturally curly hair. It’s always good to use a heat protecting spray or serum before straightening. The spray helps to protect the hair from excessive damage.

Step 4:

After straightening, your hair would need some time to cool down before anything is applied over it. Once it cools down, a good, thick serum should be used. When purchasing, it should be noted if it’s a shine-inducing serum. For application, it’s better to start from the base of the hair and work to the ends while gently smoothing the hair down. The amount of serum should be kept minimal as too much serum will make your hair appear wet. This will also call upon a quicker hair wash than usual. Keeping your hair away from any alcohol-based hair spray, gels or washes is also beneficial as alcohol tends to make the hair dry and frizzy.

Just comb your hair down with a wide-toothed comb and it’s done.

While this trick will work for all, some may require natural remedies. Hence, we have some easy tricks using products available at one’s home:

·         Method 1:

Natural products and ingredients in one’s kitchen are potent enough to help you with your hair woes. If a quick fix for dull hair is required, it’s a good idea to rinse it with a mixture of water and two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar/white wine/simple vinegar.

·         Method 2:

Mayonnaise is also great for the hair as it nourishes it to make it shinier. This is due to the fat and oil it contains. Depending on your hair’s volume and length, take mayonnaise in a glass bowl and store it in the freezer for an hour or more. After an hour, it should be removed from the freezer. The mayonnaise should be kept at room temperature before application. Before applying this, the hair should be washed with warm water which will allow the follicles to open up. Then apply it all over the hair, covering it completely. After coating all the strands with mayonnaise, wear a shower cap. It’s best to keep it for around an hour or more. The time should depend on how much conditioning one requires. This hair pack makes the hair soft and silky, leaving it glossier.

We hope the above-mentioned techniques and the tutorial help to make your hair glossy as you had always wanted it to be. Leave us your feedback below.
