7 things you need to know about Zika fever caused by mosquito virus

The Zika fever is a disease caused by the spread of the Zika virus by mosquitos. The fever has been predicted by WHO toaffect about 4 million or more people if not properly tackled. Currently the only African country proven to have cases of the virus is Carpe Verde.

 7 major things you should know about the virus.

  1. Mostly transmitted by mosquitoes, from the blood of an infected person to another.

  2. The mosquitoes that spread the virus mostly bite in daylight.

  3. The mosquitoes that spread the virus also spread Dengueand Chikungunya viruses.

  4. No vaccines has been proven to cure the virus yet, but is treated by rest.

  5. According to CDC, the most common symptoms are fever, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis (red eyes)

  6. The virus can also transmitted via sexual interactions and passed from an infected mother to a child through the placenta.

  7. It is reported to cause microcephaly in newborn babies.
