Jon Bon Jovi praised for talking woman off bridge
Rock icon Jon Bon Jovi has been commended by the police for assisting a woman in distress on a Nashville bridge Tuesday night.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department released a video showing Bon Jovi and his team at the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, where the woman was dangerously perched over the Cumberland River.
At 62 years old, Bon Jovi, along with others, engaged with the woman and helped her safely return to the bridge, according to police.
“It takes all of us to help keep each other safe,” stated Chief John Drake.
Bon Jovi was reportedly in Nashville filming a music video on the bridge, as indicated by additional footage on social media.
In the police video, a woman in blue is visible clinging to the railing on the ledge, while Bon Jovi’s team is seen setting up camera equipment further down the bridge.
Bon Jovi walks over to the woman with someone else as his team stand further away.
The singer then can be seen waving hello at her and leaning on the railing near her.
After about a minute, Bon Jovi walks to the woman and with the help of another woman the pair get her back on to the pedestrian walkway on the bridge.
Other people walk over after the woman is safe and Bon Jovi embraces her in a hug.
A few minutes later the police footage shows Bon Jovi leaving the bridge with her.
Accompanying the video on social media, Metro Nashville Police Department said: “A shout out to Jon Bon Joni and his team for helping a woman on the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge [on] Tuesday night.
“Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety.”
