“My life is in danger” – Seun Kuti says, reveals why
Seun Kuti, the controversial afrobeat artist, has recently used his social media platform to reveal that he feels his life is threatened. He has accused unnamed individuals of plotting to “destroy and kill” him because he speaks out about what he believes is the truth.
Through a video message shared on his Instagram page, the musician expressed his concerns, mentioning that he has faced numerous court cases and police summons over the years.
He said he is fighting many secret “wars” alone.
Kuti said, “I will reveal it here today. They want silent me for this country. I can’t tell you how many wars I am fighting alone. I can’t tell you how many cases in court for nothing, how many police invitations left, right and centre for nothing. For just saying the truth, everybody is inviting the police on me.
“Because I am saying the truth, they are trying to destroy and kill me. They are trying to bring me down and destroy my name. It’s not easy. They have been silencing speakers of the truth since 705 BC.”
