Nancy Isime recounts as she celebrates the women who helped shape her life
Nollywood actress Nancy Isime has written a touching tribute to celebrate the influential women in her life.
In a detailed Instagram post, she shared photos of mentors like Joke Silva, Funke Akindele, Ini Edo, Uche Jombo, and others who attended her birthday celebration. Nancy reflected on the saying “no woman is an island” as she expressed gratitude for their impact on her journey.
She acknowledged how these women have counseled, prayed for, advised, scolded, supported, defended, fed, and cherished her, among many other things. Nancy emphasized that only a fool would disregard or dishonor the grace and wisdom of those who have excelled in their fields long before achieving their own success.
The actress expressed deep respect, love, admiration, and honor for these trailblazers who have inspired her to carve her own path. She also revealed that her connection with these women goes back to her early days as an usher, particularly with Joke Silva, whose ushering company provided her with some of her most significant paychecks.
“No woman is an Island. I’m Not!
There are women who love me for me, who have counseled me, prayed for me, advised me, scolded me, supported me, put me on, defended me, fed me, clothed me, cast me in their major projects, put my name in rooms that matter, etc.
They are all not in these slides but these are a few of them.
Only a fool will disregard/dishonor the Grace bestowed upon the people who have succeeded in their fields long before they even became successful themselves.
I have nothing but respect, love, admiration, and honor for women who have held their own space and, by so doing, inspired and taught me how to hold mine.
I’ve known some of the women in these slides as far back as my ushering days, for example, Aunty Funmi @thisisfvo who when I was an usher under her ushering company, gave me some of my biggest paychecks, while some agents would rather die than pay you more than 10k, Aunty Funmi was putting me in for 50k Corporate Ushering jobs as far back as 2009. She didn’t even know it was me until I told her when I saw her again a few years back and she screamed! Because I was already one of her favorite actors/hosts.
Phew! I’m itching so badly to tell the backstory and support story of all the women in these slides, but space wouldn’t allow it; I’m also tired of being emotional.
Thank you, Mummies, Aunties, and Big Sissies, for not only honoring my invitation but also for praying with me and giving me as many words of encouragement and support as possible.
Waking up before 7am on a busy Tuesday morning just to honor and show up for me.
I don’t take it for granted at all.
God bless you.
I remain loyal to your government MAs.
I know I’m stubborn but please, none of you are allowed to leave me alone in this life.
P.S: My paps didn’t catch @miseducationofmimi because she’s shy and ran off before individual photos, but thank you, Mimz”.
