Ayra Starr, the Nigerian vocalist also known as Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, has expressed that her primary source of inspiration is Rihanna, the American-Barbadian singer.
During an interview with Rolling Stone, she emphasized that Rihanna’s album “Anti” holds a timeless quality, being a constant in her playlist.
Ayra Starr credits the album for imparting a vital lesson: the importance of embracing life’s unexpected turns, being authentic, and gracefully handling setbacks.
She said;
“Rihanna’s ‘Anti’ is the album I can put on repeat for life. I love Rihanna. She is my greatest inspiration. She is my matriarch. She is my queen. Her album ‘Anti’ is timeless. I listen to it always. The more I listen to it, the more I understand it. I love it so much.
What I heard from Rihanna is being myself, and understanding myself; whatever works for me is fine, some things don’t work for me, it’s fine. I’m just going to be myself in every situation.”
