Stanley Ontop calls out Nollywood producers for using a live snake
Producer Stanley Ontop has criticized his colleagues in Nollywood for persisting in the use of live snakes during movie shoots.
Stanley, who was actively involved in trying to prevent the tragic death of Jnr Pope on set, is now advocating for a safer working environment for Nollywood actors.
He asserts that many practices in the industry need to be reformed.
In a bid to prompt change, Stanley shared a video featuring actress Sharon Ifedi, who was compelled to handle a live snake for a scene. He argues that such methods of acting should be abandoned, advocating for alternative approaches to effectively portray the desired scenes.
Stanley has called upon the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria to prohibit the inclusion of live snakes in movies.
His post reads;
“Don’t be afraid is your friend.
Please how can a snake be someone’s friend bikonu python or a Cobra, chineke meee be my friend? Taaaaaaa!!
I think is high time Nollywood stop using live snakes to act movies. What happened to Dummy Snakes?
Calling on the president of the Actors Guild Of Nigeria to ban all movies with live snakes Let’s be wise in this our business and not been selfish.
I have spoken to the mum of Sharon not to allow her daughter to go through this torture just because we want to make it real. Even Hollywood which is the biggest industry in the world uses Chrome to Edith their rivers and animals. Nollywood let’s be wise and more creative
Please all producers should be careful about things given to your actor or crew members on set because if anything happens on set na you are produced we go hold ooooo. Let’s learn and stop back biting each others
