“The military humbled me” Cute Abiola admits as he reflects on his 30 days in detention
Abdulgafar Ahmad, the Nigerian skitmaker and content creator widely known as Cute Abiola, is now contemplating his period of detention.
Back in November 2021, we reported that the comedian had spent 10 days in Navy custody. Initially, concerns arose when his colleague in the comedy industry, Debo Adedayo, also known as Mr. Macaroni, raised alarm over his disappearance after reporting at his office in Navy Town, Lagos.
Following the alert, a Navy commander clarified two days later that the comic actor had not gone missing but had been detained for violating military regulations. This violation pertained to posting a video of himself in military attire on social media, which was deemed a breach of the armed forces’ social media guidelines.
The commander further stated that the comedian had failed to appear when summoned to explain. Instead, he only returned after the conclusion of his leave on November 15, 2021, and was promptly placed in custody the same day.
Subsequently, after being tried for misconduct and indiscipline, the comedian was eventually released after 18 days to serve his imposed penalty.
Reminiscing on the past, Cute Abiola admitted that the military really humbled him as he noted how he spent 30 days inside the cell. However, he remains grateful to the Armed Forces.
“30 days Inside Cell 2021 ! The military really humbled me !!!! Thank you Armed Forces”.
