Tiwa Savage makes Nollywood debut in a movie titled “Water and Garri”
Renowned female music artist, Tiwa Savage, is set to make her debut in the world of Nollywood with an upcoming film titled “Water and Garri.”
The movie, produced by Everything Savage and Unbound Studios and directed by Meji Alabi, will soon be available on Amazon Prime Video. Tiwa Savage’s participation in the film marks a significant entry into the world of acting for the award-winning star.
“Water and Garri” revolves around Aisha (played by Tiwa Savage), an ambitious fashion designer who returns to her home country after a decade in the United States following the death of a family member.
As Aisha grapples with the changes in her homeland, including increased violence and heightened tensions, she must confront the guilt left behind, reconnect with family, old friends, and revisit past love.
The film, shot in Ghana, seamlessly blends cinematography and storytelling, featuring a talented cast that includes Mike Afolarin (Far From Home), Andrew Bunting (Dynamite), and Jemima Osunde (New Money).
Ayanna Lonian, Director of Content Acquisition at Prime Video, expressed excitement about the film, stating, “Audiences around the world are hungry for well-made, contemporary African stories, and Water and Garri delivers that with a novel viewpoint.”.

Speaking about the movie, Tiwa Savage, who is known for hit songs expressed her excitement.
