Less than three months after the first sport utility vehicle, F-Pace, was unveiled globally, the vehicle has been introduced to the Nigerian market, courtesy of Coscharis Motors.
The President, Coscharis Motors, Cosmas Maduka, says the vehicle is coming with a two-year service plan that will help sustain its agility, responsiveness and refinement.
Maduka spoke in Lagos at the launch of the vehicle, which was also the highpoint of the 2016 edition of Tech+.
According to the premium vehicle manufacturer, F-Pace is a performance SUV that combines maximum driving exhilaration with efficiency.
“The F-Pace is our first SUV, and the latest addition to the growing Jaguar range. We are committed to developing high-performance luxury vehicles that cater to the needs of our customers all over the world,” the firm said in its review of the vehicle on its website.
It added, “Sports cars are part of Jaguar’s DNA, and we’ve used this expertise to develop the F-Pace to be engaging to drive, while offering excellent interior space and superb practicality. Technologically advanced to the core, F-Pace keeps you safe, connected and entertained; it has the capability for every road and the capacity for every day.”
Apart from the two-year service plan, Maduka also said Coscharis would be offering free insurance on the vehicle and other Jaguar products purchased within one month by those that attended the launch of the F-Pace in Lagos.
The technical details of the new vehicle were provided at the event by the General Manager, Sales, Coscharis Motors, Ufuoma Umukoro, who described it as one of the most balanced and attractive vehicles in its segment.
He said the vehicle was developed using Jaguar’s lightweight aluminium architecture, combining purity of line, surface and proportion with the F-Type-inspired features such as the powerful rear haunches, fender vents and distinctive tail light graphics.
Quoting the Director of Design, Jaguar, Ian Callum, Umukoro said, “By remaining absolutely true to our design principles, the All-new F-Pace is immediately recognisable as a Jaguar.
“It offers all of the interior space you will expect — and more — but because of our disciplined approach to surfaces, proportions, and purity of line, we have designed what I consider to be the most balanced, most attractive vehicle in its class.”
Engine
With the 280kW supercharged V6 petrol engine from the F-TYPE under its sculpted aluminium bonnet, the F-PACE is said to be capable of accelerating from zero to 100km per hour in 5.5 seconds before reaching an electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h.
A statement by Coscharis also reported the Line Director, Jaguar F-Pace, Kevin Stride, as saying, “The SUV is a Jaguar that customers around the world demanded that we make. The targets we set are among the most challenging we’ve ever had to deliver but I’m proud to say that the All-New F-Pace meets or exceeds every one of them.
“This is a performance SUV with outstanding dynamics yet also delivers a smooth, quiet ride. The F-Type-inspired design combines dramatic looks with a spacious interior and an exceptionally large luggage compartment. Together with our All-new infotainment system, our most advanced all-wheel drive system and an outstanding range of active safety technologies, the All-New F-Pace makes every journey a better, more rewarding experience.”
Interior
The vehicle provides an exceptionally spacious interior for five occupants with best-in-class legroom for rear passengers, according to the automaker. Its interior is said to be a perfect blend of premium materials and finishes, as well as exquisite detailing.
Passengers will have access to heated- and electrically reclining rear seats, while drivers will benefit from cutting-edge technologies such as the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system, a 12.3-inch HD virtual instrument cluster and a laser head-up display.
The F-Pace also came with 33.5 cubic feet of cargo space with seats up and a versatile 40:20:40 rear seat folding configuration. And the manufacturer said every inch had been carefully considered for maximum usability.
Exterior
Jaguar said from the hood bulge to the pronounced rear haunches, the F-Pace powerful looks made it a distinctive vehicle that had given it a head-turning road presence, adding that it reinvented the energy, strength and purity of the F-Type.
“The wheelbase and track are not shared with any other Jaguar. At 4,731mm long and with a 2,874mm wheelbase, the all-new F-Pace offers the sleek profile and short front overhang characteristic of Jaguar design together,” it stated.
