Top 20 Items That You Can Export From Nigeria And Make Dollars

Exporting in Nigeria can be a very lucrative business. The reason is that the profits you make from this business are in hard currency (dollars or pounds). Here we will share with you 20 products that you can export from Nigeria and make money.

Problem is, some people want to get into the exportation business but don’t know what product they can export asides from oil-related products. They also don’t know where they can export it and how to do so.

Therefore, in this post, we will show you products that you can export from Nigeria, as well as countries you can export to. We will also give you some tips to help you get started in the exportation business.

PS: If you are interested in starting a profitable importation business in Nigeria, how to get started is at https://aderonkebamidele.com/importation-business

LIST OF ITEMS YOU CAN EXPORT

1. Ginger

Ginger is a highly-traded spice, and Nigeria is one of the largest producers. I don’t understand why we don’t export ginger in large quantities. With these goods, you can make regular dollars by starting Trans-Saharan or Trans-Atlantic trading. This item can be exported to the USA, Japan, Pakistan, Netherlands, India, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia, etc.

2. Palm Kernel Oil

Palm Kernel oil, which is an oil extracted from the pulp of palm fruit, is different from palm oil. Palm Kernel Oil can be used to make cosmetics, pharmaceutical products, and confectioneries. This oil has many uses, the mineral content is rich in protein, which makes it suitable for various purposes. This oil can be used for many purposes, which is why there is a lot of demand from around the globe. Exports to China, Brazil, the United States, EU countries, and India are good places to consider.

3. Textiles and Garments

The exports from Nigeria alone bring in close to $32bn. It is a fact that, unlike other products that face strict rules of tests, Nigeria’s textiles enjoy duty-free passage into the United States where it has the largest market in the world due to its unique designs, ethnic African designs, and quality. Spain, Italy, Portugal, the USA, the UK, Malaysia Netherlands, etc. are countries to look into.

4. Cocoa Butter

These are the true sources of all kinds of chocolate. Cocoa fruits are used to produce a variety of skincare and health products as well as pharmaceutical products. Cocoa is in high demand in the USA, UK Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, and France. This is why cocoa farming in Nigeria is so important.

5. Gallstone

This solid substance is clay-like and comes from the gallbladder of mature cows and oxen. It could be as large as a chicken egg. Because they use gallstone for medical purposes, it is a hotcake in foreign pharmaceuticals. You can find ready buyers in Asia and America if you have a lot of gallstones that has been dried to about 100g.

6. Rubber

Nigeria has established proper Central Testing Laboratories in order to ensure only certified products are exported to Europe and America. Nigeria is a major producer of rubber in Africa. Due to the fluctuating dollar rate, a cubit meter fine quality rubber can be purchased for between $400-$600. Top partner countries to which Nigeria exports rubber includes India, France, Spain, South Africa, and the USA.

7. Sesame Seed

If you don’t live in the region where the product is made, this may seem a little strange. You can find sesame seeds in Nigeria in large quantities in Jigawa and Benue states. In terms of foreign exchange earnings and export volume, this product is second only to cocoa. Nigeria is the fifth largest producer of this commodity, and it can be shipped to foreign countries to earn dollars in exchange.

8. Honey

Another export commodity is pure honey from Nigeria to other nations. A kilogram of honey is currently worth more than $150 in international markets. Natural honey contains trace enzymes such as sugar, mineral, vitamins, and amino acids. A liter of honey can fetch good dollars in the foreign market. Countries that import honey include; USA, Germany, Japan, the UK, France, China, Italy, Belgium, etc.

9. Shrimps

The Niger Delta region of Nigeria is home to rich organic Shrimp deposits. In countries such as Portugal, France, and Belgium, Shrimps are in high demand.

10. Garlic

Garlic is a cash crop that is grown in Nigeria’s Savanna regions. You can be sure of hard currency in foreign countries if you have good-quality garlic that has been certified internationally.

11. Yam Tubers

Nigeria is currently the largest producer of yam. The yam export industry accounted for approximately US$450 million in exchanges in 2009. It is disappointing to learn that this country is not maximizing its export potential for these products due to low quality. So there is a need for prospective exporters of yam to foreign countries to adhere strictly to quality regulations guarding the process. This is something that yam farmers should take into account and capitalize on.

12. Charcoal

This product is one of the top products in international markets. This product, which is made in Nigeria using the most advanced technology, has a 50% ROI. You can even own a charcoal production company and have it shipped by exporters. There is a large market for charcoal in ASIA, the EU, and the USA. This product is priced at about $1000 per ton.

13. Cotton

The National Cotton Association of Nigeria, (NACOTAN), recently gave this sector a boost of N33 million to help it recover. Cotton is one of the most natural sources of fiber and is high in demand around the world.

14. Cassava Flour

Because of the various ways, it can be prepared, we know that Cassava is a food for everyone in Nigeria. This is also needed in foreign markets. The demand for well-processed cassava flour is rising in Europe, the Middle East, and also in America.

15. Cashew Nuts

Nearly every region of the country is capable of producing this international commodity. Unprocessed cashew nuts in large quantities are exported to India, Brazil, and Vietnam, where they are turned into kernels and moved to Northern America and Europe where they are sold for about $2 per pound. The demand from these consuming countries is increasing day by day.

16. Snail

There is a market ready for snail producers if you are able to produce them in large quantities. Snails are a hot commodity in Europe and America. This is a very simple species to raise and produces quickly with little to no feeding expenditures.

17. Chili Pepper

Nigeria has good weather that supports the production and proper growth of the internationally accepted pepper. This is another commodity you can look into.

18. Fruit Juice

Many may find it strange that Nigeria offers fruit juice concentrates export opportunities. It is true. Nigeria has a lot of naturally grown fruits that provide high-quality juice products. The USA offers huge potential for Nigerian fruit concentrate export.

19. Poultry

When we talk about poultry, it involves all domestic birds, eggs, and meat. Nigeria’s poultry farm products are still in high demand within Africa and Western countries because Nigeria’s weather condition favors poultry farming. Poultry products export from Nigeria is a promising avenue that is still highly untapped.

20. Cosmetics and Soap

Nigeria has made great strides in this area, but we still need to acquire the technology necessary to make cosmetics in large quantities to be competitive with other countries.

Export opportunities exist in soap making. This extends to laundries, as well as other toiletries. Exports of Nigerian cosmetics can be made to other countries in Africa where they are most needed.

Nigeria is a major market for soap. This makes it possible for neighboring countries to travel thousands of kilometers to obtain large quantities to sell in their country. The investment opportunities in this area are still untapped and if they are properly investigated, it could mean a huge opportunity for foreign exchange. This area could be a great opportunity for foreign currency if it is properly managed.

Exporters from Nigeria should strictly adhere to export rules to open up more opportunities for those who want to export from Nigeria to other countries.

IN CONCLUSION

Exporting from Nigeria can bring you unlimited profits, but you need to first understand how this business works. There are many other items that you can export, in addition to the ones listed above. It is important to be familiar with the rules and regulations that govern the exportation of these products to other countries.
