5 Tips to finding the perfect fit of golf shoes

Golfing is a sport that is loved by many all over the world. When golfing, you are going to be spending a great deal of time outdoors, walking around, and standing on your feet. Doing so can be tiring but there are ways to prevent your feet from hurting after a long day on the course. Choosing the perfect fit in your golf shoes is paramount to having a great day on the course.

This is particularly important if you plan to walk the course instead of hiring a caddy or a golf cart to transport you around the property. It is without question that there are a wide variety of shoes to choose from and it can be quite a challenge to determine what will work best.

This article will provide some tips to finding the perfect fit of golf shoes so that you can stay on the course for 9 or 18 holes without a problem.

  1. Measure your foot. It is important to measure your foot before committing to a purchase as your foot may fit differently in a golf shoe than in regular shoes. This may sound strange but golf shoes are made in a particular manner as you will be walking a great deal in them most likely. By measuring your foot, you can guarantee that you will select the right size and fit which will help you avoid blisters, calluses, and other ailments.
  • Determine the needed shoe width. Just as it is important to measure your foot to make sure that you get the right size and fit, it is equally as important to make sure that you measure the width of your foot. Whether you have a narrow or wide foot, there are a range of wide fitting golf shoes on the market in a variety of styles. The same goes for golfers with a narrow foot. To ensure comfort, measuring your foot length as well as width will provide you with the best fit.
  • Style. There are many different styles when purchasing a golf shoe. Choosing between a sporty look versus one that is more traditional is something that you will need to consider when you are shopping for shoes. Typically more comfortable, the sporty type of golf shoe can be confused as a sneaker or comfortable crosstrainer. On the other hand, the more traditional shoe will offer a more class look and are often made with leather. They may even look like dress shoes in some styles. Both shoes are made with comfort in mind so you cannot go wrong with either kind. If you have the budget, you may consider investing in both kinds so that you have them and can wear them as appropriate.
  • Consider spikes. Some golfers prefer to wear shoes with spikes on the bottoms. The reason for this is that spikes allow for more grip on the course which is great if you are playing in varying terrain. If you are going to be playing on a dry surface, the spikes can offer traction. Spikes are merely a personal preference so try them out and see if they work for you before ruling them out completely.
  • Waterproof. Waterproofing is a nice feature to have. You never know when the grass will be wet or a storm may pass through unannounced. Waterproof shoes can keep your socks and feet dry which will allow you to remain comfortable and able to continue on with your game long after the rain has passed.
