Almond

The almond (Prunus dulcis, syn. Prunus amygdalus) is a species of tree native to the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent and North Africa.

Almond is also the name of this edible and broadly cultivated seed of the tree. Inside the genus Prunus, it’s categorized using all the peachfrom the subgenus Amygdalus, differentiated from the other subgenera by corrugations on the casing (endocarp) enclosing the seed.
The fruit of the almond is a drupe, consisting of an outer shell and a tough shell with all the seed, which isn’t a authentic nut, indoors.
