How To Do Avant Garde Makeup

We admit, there’s just something about the winged eye makeup, goth lips, and porcelain skin that makes Avant Garde makeup so attractive to us. But don’t write it off just yet — you should know that our idea of dramatic, experimental and creative makeup is very much wearable.

Ready to walk down this subtle-avant garde path with us? Put on your boldest lips, line your eyes in the darkest black, and continue reading.

  1. Flawless Face:

If you are going all out, fully dramatic— just remember that the face takes major focus. When doing dark lips and eyes, keep in mind to allow your makeup take centre stage. Ideally we would suggest you to go for a no-makeup look, but if you don’t have a flawless complexion, don’t worry, just fake it.

To duplicate the look, apply a hydrating and a lightweight foundation, like Clinique Supermoisture Makeup, all over your face. Then, pat Rimmel Hide The Blemish Concealer only to mask any blemish you may have. After that add MAC Blot Powder Pressed in Medium below your cheekbones to contour your skin subtly. Make sure the powder is two shades darker than your natural skin tone. Finally, add some colour on the apples of your cheeks in the shade of golden-pink to play up your complexion. Our favourite is Tom Ford Beauty Cheek Color in Ravish.

  1. Cut Crease Eyes:

Popular for being boldest, dramatic and artistic, avant garde eye makeup is all about thinking out of the box.
To duplicate the over-the-top look, begin your eye makeup by creating a smoky effect first. Start by using a black liner and create an almond-shaped cat-eye that’s angled towards the brown bone and has a pointed edge. TryL’Oreal Infallibale The Super Slim Liquid Eyeliner. Now choose a black hue, like Urban Decay’s Smoked Palette and blend it evenly.

Once done, apply NYX Cosmetics Eye Shadow Base In White all over the lid. Next create a good contrast by applying Ben Nye Cosmic Blue eye shadow, which also acts as your base for the rest of the eye makeup. Use your fingers to blend this shadow all over your lid, working out towards the temple. Once done, use a soft brush and sweep Ben Nye Cosmic Blue shadow over your bottom lashline. Add a black line under your blue lower eye, like Physicians Formula 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum.

  1. Symmetrical Eyebrows:

The most crucial part for this look is to create thick and angular eyebrows thick. So for the symmetrical eyebrows start with creating a feather mask over the curve of your eyebrow and down to the tear duct. We recommend thick and easy-to-apply, Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Eyeliner. Now extend your symmetrical line out past your eyes, leaving the upper lash’s end of the mask open. Ensure to use the liquid liner to thicken your borders of the mask. Finish off the look by curling and piling on several, heavy coats of mascara on your lashes. We are a big fan of Blinc Mascara P46017 since it instantly creates a full, dramatic effect.

  1. The Ultimate Lips:

The joy of avant garde look is that it breaks a big beauty rule – namely, allowing us to wear both strong eyes and vampy lips together.
To recreate the look, begin with moisturizing your lips by applying Nivea Lip Butter, Caramel lip balm. Now take the tissue, put it between their lips, and blot the extra moisture with a tissue. Next, outline the lips with a Mary Kay Lip Liner In Dark Chocolate, and fill in with nearly black Morgana Cryptoria lipstick in Flirtatious Flapper lip color. Finish the look by swiping a slick of NARS Lip Gloss in Nana gloss. For an extra hold of the lipstick dab a bit of concealer around your lips.

So here we’ve created the easy-to-do but the one that packs the most punch avant garde look. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to write to us by commenting below. We value reader feedback.
