Quick fixes to keep you on the go!

No matter how little time you have to spare, you can always make the most of it looking after your health. Health experts have advised that, in 10 seconds, you can prevent a stroke by drinking a glass of orange juice. Research shows that Vitamin C can help reduce damage to the arteries from free radicals (they damage cells), can lower blood pressure, and help control cholesterol. In 10 seconds, you can also avoid Alzheimer’s by eating a handful of sunflower seeds (which are high in Vitamin E).

This can help prevent the brain from deteriorating. The brain is so active that it produces many free radicals that damage its cells. Vitamin E can help prevent this. You can also cut out cold sores in 10 seconds by taking an aspirin. It will help relieve the pain, and cut the duration of a cold sore from an average of eight days to five. In 30 seconds, you can prevent colon cancer by eating a few Brazil nuts every day to reduce your risk of colon cancer by up to 60 per cent. These nuts contain high dose of selenium, thought to prevent the disease. You can also beat headaches.

If you are prone to head pain, then try this: Squeeze the webbing between your thumb and first finger for 30 seconds. It’s meant to stimulate the nerve impulses to the brain and shrink dilated blood vessels. In 30 seconds, you can also boost your eye-sight. We’ve all heard that carrots are good for your eyes, but mangoes are even better. They are packed with Vitamins C and E, and beta-carotene; all of which protect your eyes from cell damage.

And in one full minute, you can prevent diabetes. It only takes a minute to make, but eating a peanut butter sandwich once a week can lower your risk of developing diabetes type two by 16 per cent as it is believed that the fats in peanut butter improve insulin sensitivity. You can also knock dandruff on the head in a minute. If you suffer from a dry, flaky scalp, rub in some baby oil before you go to bed. It will help soften the dandruff scales overnight, so when you wash your hair in the morning, you will wash the dandruff right out.

You can also stop stomach ulcer in a minute by eating broccoli. This could cut your risk as it contains sulforaphane, which kills off H pylori —a bacteria that researchers believe triggers most ulcers.
