How To Prepare Corn And Beans Porridge, Step By Step Guide

How To Prepare Corn And Beans Porridge

Nigerian food is bomb, need I say more… This week we would be looking at how to prepare Corn And Beans Porridge known as Adalu in Yoruba. This corn and beans mix is something that doesn’t require a lot of expertise.

Beans enriched with vitamins hasn’t always been well received by the young-lings and so parents try to make up a lie to make sure kids eat this. As an adult, you know the essence of amino acid and one of the safest ways to get it is by eating beans.

Adalu is the marrying of beans and corn into a simple meal that can be garnished with fish, turkey, fresh basil, fresh tomatoes etc Like I said it doesn’t require any flamboyance to make it tasty, its one of the simpler meals of life.

Below is a list of what you’ll need to be able to prepare Corn And Beans Porridge.

Note that this recipe uses sweet corn as opposed to fresh corn, this is because the sweet corn has been pre-boiled so it makes the adalu preparation faster as opposed to when you have to boil fresh corn from the scratch.

What you’ll need (Ingredients)

  • 3 cups Ewa Oloyin (the sweet version of the Black eyed beans).
  • 1 cup of sweet corn
  • 2 Tatashe (red bell peppers )
  • 1 red onion
  • 3 pieces of Ata rodo (Habanero or scotch bonnet peppers)
  • Palm Oil
  • Olive Oil (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Seasoning cube to taste

Below is a video of sisi Yemmie’s Adalu preparation tutorial, watch it as it would serve as a guide on how you can make this delicious meal.
